Our Innovators

Ulster-Scots people are known for their innovation. This teaching and learning resource is designed for primary schools and is mapped to the school curriculum.

It uses a range of multimedia resources to support learning about a number of Ulster-Scots people whose innovation and invention has helped shaped many aspects of modern life.

They include John Boyd Dunlop, inventor of the pneumatic tyre, Professor Frank Pantridge, inventor of the portable defibrillator, Harry Ferguson, engineer and first person to fly in Ireland, and Margaret Byers, pioneer of education for girls.

Each innovator is featured in videos involving children from a range of primary schools.
