Education – School-Based Learning

The Northern Ireland curriculum provides opportunities for schools to embed teaching and learning about Ulster-Scots in curriculum-based teaching and learning.

In order to support teachers to develop engaging learning experiences, the Ulster-Scots Agency offers a range of curriculum based resources. Use the menu on the left to explore teaching and learning resources available for schools.

In addition, we provide a number of programmes that support learning and developing new skills related to Ulster-Scots culture and heritage. These include providing grants to schools for music and highland dance tuition.

The Ulster-Scots Agency has a number of programmes designed to help schools offer learning experiences related to Ulster-Scots culture and heritage. These are designed to help schools develop expertise and experience in order that aspects of Ulster-Scots can be embedded in the school curriculum.

The programmes are structured, offering initial experiences through after-schools clubs and developing through our Flagship Programme to the most advanced recognition as an Ulster-Scots School of Excellence.
