Community-Based Learning

The Ulster-Scots Agency is committed to supporting lifelong learning. We offer learning opportunities for people of all ages to discover more about Ulster-Scots language, culture and heritage.

Support for learning outside school environments includes us offering talks and courses that are led by facilitators and developing resources that users can explore on their own. Events are held in the Discover Ulster-Scots Centre in the Corn Exchange in Belfast city centre, and we also use community venues on occasion.

Resources that we develop about Ulster-Scots language, culture and heritage are published on this website.

We are also developing plans for web-based programmes such as webinars.

Details of courses/events are published on our Facebook page and other media channels.

On occasion we also produce video resources. Videos produced by the Agency can be viewed on our YouTube Channel and links are also provided in the ‘Resources Library’ of this site.

We work closely with colleagues in the Ulster-Scots Community Network who offer a wide range of community-based learning opportunities. Check out their Facebook page here.

For those seeking to learn more about their Ulster-Scots ancestors, the Ulster Historical Foundation may be of interest. You can visit their website here.
