After School Clubs (Primary) Programme
The Ulster-Scots Agency’s After School Club Programme is designed to provide extra-curricular experiences for children in primary schools that will encourage a greater understanding of Ulster Scots language and culture.
The Agency provides a facilitator to deliver the programme of 6 workshops: each are approximately 60 – 90 minutes duration. One will be an Ulster-Scots language workshop.
The workshops can include experience of Highland Bagpipes, Snare Drum, Lambeg drumming, Highland Dance, Scottish Country Dance, Living History and Fiddle.
The After School Clubs Programme is designed to be the ‘entry-level’ experience offered by the Agency to primary schools and it is hoped that schools completing the programme will progress to ‘Flagship’ or ‘School of Excellence’ status.
