Handmade in Ulster

The Lambeg drum is unique to Ulster and is one of the largest and loudest percussion instruments in the world. A small number of skilled artisan craftsmen in Ulster hand craft each drum using traditional methods handed down over generations. Each drum maker has particular ways of crafting a drum making each one unique.

In this film, skilled drum maker Raymond Davis from Carrickfergus in County Antrim shares some of his techniques for making the drum that is the heartbeat of Ulster.
