Ulster-Scots School of Excellence

The School of Excellence scheme is designed to recognise schools that have developed sustainable, whole-school programmes about Ulster-Scots culture and heritage. Schools of Excellence will have Ulster-Scots explicitly mentioned in their School Development Plan and will have support from their Governing Bodies. As well as offering curriculum-based teaching and learning about Ulster-Scots they will be engaging with their local communities and showcasing their work.

They will also be able to provide advice and guidance to other schools, sharing their learning and experiences to support others achieving ‘Ulster-Scots School of Excellence’ status.

On achieving ‘School of Excellence’ status schools will receive a unique wall plaque and be able to use the ‘Ulster-Scots School of Excellence Award’ on school stationary and website etc.
